Starting my Instagram probably just around 3 years ago, I always wanted to be invited to special events for Influencers. I follow many who constantly go to these events and I have to say, makes me a bit jealous LOL.
Recently, I received an email from an agency in Miami called Show and Tell Them with an invite to the INNOCOS Beauty 20 Awards Event. My jaw dropped, LITERALLY! It was like, finally! I was invited to an event! And even better, it was called for a Sunday (as I cannot make it to Friday/Saturday events due to the Sabbath).
But… I was a bit hesitant in reserving my spot. Why you may ask? Think of it this way. I am very friendly and outgoing, but outgoing when I know my surroundings. For this event, I had NO IDEA who was attending and I probably wouldn’t know anyone. I was very nervous at how I would go and not just stand on the side awkwardly. Thats the worst! With my cousins push saying “you have to go!”, I sent an email to INNOCOS letting them know I will be there. Luckily, the reservations were put on Google Calendar so I was able to see who was on the guest list.
I randomly messaged one of the Influencers, Girl with Glam. She is such a sweetie and we got along really well! We chatted almost every day on Instagram up until the day of the event. Once we met at the event for the first time, it was like we knew each other for years! Sorry for the mushiness LOL.
OK, kinda jumped quickly there with meeting a fellow Influencer at the event haha. Before meeting Girl with Glam, I arrived at the event. And to my luck (sarcastically), I was the first one there. Upon arriving I was greeted by Sumouli who works for INNOCOS and I received a badge with my name and Instagram name (this at the end was to be exchanged for their goodie bag). Fast forward to 5 minutes later, Girl with Glam arrived! As more and more Influencers (and of course the brands!) arrived, I learned that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Everyone seemed to chat and get along. It was amazing meeting so many like minded ladies like me. Not only that, we got to speak to representatives and the faces behind the beauty companies who were there as they have been nominated (Some of the brands were: Mary Kay, Cotarde, Wet N Wild, Ofra Cosmetics, Pravana, Ann Marie, etc) .
Background of the event: It started off with a light buffet and drinks which lasted throughout the entire time. It was not a sit down, and as much as my feet hurt being in heels, this was smart. Because everyone was standing, there was chatting and mingling going on which was great. This went on for 2 hours with the awards being given out straight afterwards. Very fun and chilled event.
Now, I would love to let you know what brands won exactly which awards, but I didn’t write them down. I have also tried to check out INNOCOS website for it, but they haven’t yet updated the list online. I do remember that Mary Kay won a few and Cotarde won I believe Best Start Up Brand.
All in all, for my first event, I am so happy I got to go to the Beauty 20 Awards. It was fun meeting and speaking to new faces whether it was Influencers or the brands themselves. Plus, who doesn’t love a goodie bag! No joke, it was heavy, like 10-15 pounds! Hopefully you saw the stories on my instagram Sunday to see the goodies I had received!
